What's Going On Here?!!!
  A guide to Fellowship Church
  ------------------------
Welcome to Fellowship Christian Reformed Church. We're a
congregation of the Christian Reformed Church of North America,
and have been worshipping in Edmonton since 1979.
We want you to enjoy your time with us. So, here's a brief
guide to what we're about, and a few tips on worshipping with us.
  ------------------------
   In the beginning . . .
We usually begin with song, introductions and a prayer. We like
to welcome visitors personally, so somebody next to you may be
asked to introduce you. If you're willing, introduce yourself.

This is a time of prayer,
song, communion together, and hearing God's Word. We use
PowerPoint for our service so if you have any trouble seeing you
should sit toward the front and middle. For our congregational
offering, we bring our gifts to baskets at the front. Some
baskets hold financial contributions and another holds
contributions to the food bank. During intercessory prayer,
worshippers share their concerns, joys and insights which become
part of our communal prayer time.
  ------------------------
   Communion
Communion is our thanks for God's love and care for us, and
also a way in which we symbolically express our friendship and
love for each other. We encourage all Christian visitors to
participate in communion. Children may  also participate. For
hygienic reasons, we  dip the bread in the juice, rather than
taking them separately. So hold on to your bread until the juice
comes around and dip it in. As we pass the bread to each other we
say words such as "The body of Christ was given for you," and
with the juice, "The blood of Christ was poured out for you."
After worship we  clean up  the worship area.
 ---------------------------
   Food for the Body
After Worship Service ends at about Noon, we gather for lunch
in the cafeteria. It's a good opportunity for you to meet us, and
for us to meet you, over a sandwich and coffee, tea or juice, and
we strongly encourage you to come, even if you can't stay for the
worship service.
If this is your first time at Fellowship, don't be embarrassed
that you didn't bring some food. We're accustomed to having
visitors and bring a little extra just for you. If you start
attending on a more regular basis, you might follow this guide:
bring enough for you or your family, plus one other person.
Some people have a bit too much fun -- we expect parents to
keep track of their own children during lunch. Children (and
adults) should respect the property of the college's food service
and not take anything (sugar, ketchup, etc.) from that area.
  ---------------------------------------------
Solomon's Porch – Currently Suspended until further notice
After Lunch we meet for Solomon's Porch at 12:30PM
Solomon's Porch is a time to meet together. We usually have a speaker
or Bible study and discussion afterwards. We usually end at 1:30PM
  ------------------------
   For Kids
Starting Jan 18, 2009. Children ages 4-12 story time during the sermon.
Children and young people TBD. If you've got children, or if you're
a child or teen yourself, we'd encourage you to join a class.
If you want to know which class to attend, just follow the rest
of the kids or ask an adult which class you should be in.

   Membership
You'll notice a number of people participating in the service.
At Fellowship, the services (and many other aspects of the life
of the church) are planned and conducted by members of the
congregation, rather than by a pastor. Several committees -
worship, education, refugee, hospitality and outreach - meet
regularly to develop new programs and see that things run
smoothly.
